Digitizer and Logitech MouseWare under Windows 95/98
If your digitizer didn't work any more after installation of Logitech Mouseware follow this steps:

Run Regedit.exe, edit the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

\SOFTWARE\Logitech\MouseWare\CurrentVersion\Global\PortSearchOrder

and remove the COM ports which aren't used by your mouse.

Example:
Mouse connected to COM1 and digitizer to COM2.
The registery should show in the above path the following value:
PortSearchOrder "COM1"

Mouse connected to PS/2 and digitizer to COM1.
The registery should show in the above path the following value:
PortSearchOrder "COM3,COM4"

Digitizer and Kensington Mouse under Windows 9x
The standard installation of Kensington MouseWorks driver software has the effect, that at very time you boot up Windows the driver will search at each port (COM and PS/2) for the Kensington mouse. This influences the initalization of the Genius digitzer and the driver can`t be loaded. To solve this problem, follow this steps:

  1. Un-install the Kensington MouseWorks driver software.
  2. Run the SETUP of the Kensington MouseWorks driver software.
  3. Choose the option "No, I want to change the input search options".
  4. In the window "Where would you like MouseWorks to seach for input devices?"select the port to which you have connected your Kensington mouse.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  6. Re-boot your system.

Digitizer and ISDN card or modem
The software of ISDN card and modem emulates a COM-port for fax function. This can be in conflict to the physical port to which tablet is connected. We suggest following tested steps:

  • Remove tablet driver
  • Remove driver of ISDN card or modem
  • Install tablet driver first
  • Check function of tablet under Windows
  • Install driver of ISDN card or modem. it will now take another port for emulation

Followed all steps for Logitech mouse or ISDN card, but digitizer still doesn`t work
Please run under Windows 9x the program "regedit" and check the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\VGTABLET
"ComName"="COMx"

If your digitizer is connected to COM1, the value must be as follows:
"ComName"= "COM1"

If your digitizer is connected to COM1, the value must be as follows:
"ComName"= "COM2"

Digitizer under AutoCad R13/R14/LT
There are three possibilties to install your digitzer under AutoCad:

A. With the delivered WinTab Driver.

B. With the integrated Summagraphics ADI driver of AutoCad.

C. With the Virtual WinTab Interface (VTI) of Autodesk

A. For the installation of WinTab driver do the following steps:

  1. Install the Wintab driver under Windows.
After restart of your system, digitizer must be available under Windows.
If this isn't the case, check your installation. A configuration of the tablet under AutoCad is only possible, if your tablet is allready working under Windows.
  2. Select "Preferences" under the "Options" menu
  3. Choose"Wintab compatibler Digitizer ADI 4.2" , then click tab Set Current and click tab Apply.
  4. Select "Digitizer/Mouse" under the Digitzer Input section.
  5. Exit to the drawing editor and keep configuration changes
  6. Now select from the Tools menu the tablet command and choose "Configure" option.
  7. Define the menu and screen areas and keep configuration changes

B. For the installation of tablet without WinTabDriver do the following steps:

  1. Start Windows and then AutoCad.
  2. Select "Preferences" under the "Options" menu
  3. From the list select "SummaSketch MM Serie" and follow the on-screen instructions

  7. Define the menu and screen areas and keep configuration changes.

Important:
You can not use a WinTab driver in Windows and the corresponding ADI driver for your digitzer in AutoCad. When you try to configure AutoCad for the ADI driver you will get the following error message:

The operating system detected the following error on com(x). Digitizer disabled.

C. The Autodesk Virtual Wintab Interface (VTI) can be obtained under the following adress:

http://www.autodesk.com/support/filelib/acad14/vti32.htm

Important! Use only one Wintab driver at a time. Before you install this driver, you must first un-install Genius WinTab driver.
